Poppy trip

 4/29:  Dunedin to Waycross, GA

Severe storms were predicted, but none materialized.  Spent the night at Cracker Barrel.

4/30:  Waycross, GA to Toccoa Falls, GA

Following a good breakfast at Cracker Barrel,  we traveled for 300 miles in rain, then sunshine.  While searching for a church, we saw this ark, but no services there.  See pic later in posts.

Camped at Tullah Gorge State Park. We opted to stay in camp instead of hiking down to the gorge and back since it was late afternoon.  Overnight temp was 46.

The fuel saga:  Needed fuel.  Of course wanted the cheapest at a Shell. 5 gallons left...up across a mountain.  Shell station closed.  Next Shell station..diesel pump broken.  Made it to BP station with 2 gallons left!!

From sea level to 6,053 feet..the highest point on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are nearly alone up here since the campgrounds don't open for a few more weeks.
5/1/23:  Most of the Blue Ridge Pkwy is closed, but we were able to stay in Julian Price Campground by self registering.  $10 for the night (no power).  Temps were in the low 40's but Poppy remained toasty warm without using the diesel heater.  Winds were very gusty!

5/2/23:  The Parkway speed limit varies between 25 an 45 mph with lots of curves and switchbacks.  There are no campgrounds near us so we are parked in an overlook parking lot for the night.
