8/23/2024: we took a leisurely drive from our campground to Gardiner and back. So many beautiful places and lots of animals! Laundry, groceries and fuel done. We leave tomorrow and head east.

8/22/2024

 8/22/2024: This morning we entered Yellowstone Park. This is our 3rd time here, so we avoided some of the most touristy sites. We expected all of the campgrounds to be full, but we snagged a spot for the next 2 nights at Bridge Bay Campground.

8/21/2024

 8/21/2024: We left Fort Benton and headed south toward Yellowstone. We stopped for lunch in Livingston, our first time in a restaurant in 10 days. We were unable to get a reservation at a campground, but found a spot at Canyon Campground just off route 89. Price, $5.00! An uneventful day,

Oops, we spoke too soon. While I was watching the DNC and Ron was doing computer work, we had an invasion if newly hatched flies...lots of them. After exterminating them, we looked everywhere to see where they had hatched. No clue, as everything was ok.

8/20/2024

 8/20/2024: We crossed the border into Montana this morning and there were no questions about the reentry for dogs. We had followed the new regs by getting a form filled out by our vet and filling out a reentry form online with an attached photo of Duke. Not what we expected!! We are staying at a city park in Fort Benton, Montana tonight. Back in Lewis & Clark territory.

8/19/2024 continued:

For our last day in Canada, we did a bear spray test. Not on a bear, though!! Ron found a can of bear spray and brought it on board. While putting some bug spray away, the bear spray went off. We now know that bear spray is truly effective! After burning skin (Ron) and a serious cough (me) we have recovered. Fortunately, Duke was outside and the bear spray is in the trash!!

 8/19/2024: Our last day/campground in Canada. Clearing customs on Tuesday at Chief Mountain into Montana. We left the mountains of BC this morning for farmlands in Alberta. We long for the cooler temps further north.

8/18/2024

 8/18/2024: The mudslide was cleaned up overnight and Banff Nat'l Park reopened. The scenery was so good that I took over 100 pictures. We went to Hector Lake and then to the town of Banff where Poppy got a much needed bath. Tonight we are in Wasa Provincial Park. The sign said full (141 sites) but we checked and many were empty. Temp this morning was 55 and this afternoon was 88. We haven't seen those temps since mid June.
