8/11/2024: Serendipitous event: Klondike Route 2 is a very quiet paved road with little traffic. At 10 am we arrived at Carmack which has only a few buildings, one of which is a Catholic Mission. Ron suggested we check the mass time which was 10 am, so we pulled in and waited with a few others. The priest arrived at 10:25. He had driven from White Horse, 160 km away. Altogether there were 14 adults and two children in this small chapel. This was a very diverse group from Nova Scotia, First Nation, Mauritania, British Columbia, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and us. The priest was Philippino! And the homily was dealing with challenges!! I introduced myself to the wife of the Mounty and her baby daughter. Mom looked at me and said Mimi. (Everyone else was dark skinned. I was the only oldie with white hair.)
