While he was gone, I took numerous piles of sheets, towels, and clothing to the laundromat followed by lunch at a restaurant on the Oneida River. Thanks to Ken and Ann (Charis) for the loan of their car.
Charis & Adagio, finally together |
The water here is yucky. It is cloudy and has lots of surface algae. Duke really wants to swim, but I've kept him out so far. Because the marina has only one road in and out, we've been able to allow Duke some freedom. Today when I let him loose, he headed for the Ship's Store and went in to request one of the dog biscuits. He's a schemer!
That Duke is something else. Have been following your adventures and relaying them to some Power Squadron people in Coos Bay and District 32 (Oregon). These "Western" folks get a charge out of the "Great Loop." Some have boated from the Portland area as far inland as Lewiston, ID (on the Snake, and the last "port" eastbound in the Pac Northwest), but it fascinates them how much is connected by water in the "east." The Missouri, which Lewis & Clark thought might take them closer to the Pacific, were taken aback by how almost impenetrable mountains divided the waters. Oh, and I loved Ruth Burd's article in The Ensign about the Muskingum River in Ohio. Inland waterways sure have their challenges.
ReplyDeleteIs everything ok? Or is my connection to you stuck at Aug 29th posting? Was enjoying reading along. Just bought our Loop boat in July. Not starting the Loop for several years, yet. Hope all is well.
