Approaching Ottawa

8/7/13
We got an early start for a long day to Ottawa with a planned stop for fuel in Lafaivre.

They didn't open until 10am so we had a short wait until the worker arrived.  This fuel dock is owned by the city but run by college students.  The price for fuel was significantly lower than any other marina on the river.  The fill rate was very slow and we needed 120 gallons.  They charge by the liter in Canada and the price was $1.36 per liter.  That equates to $5.27 per gallon for diesel.
We made it to Ottawa at 3:40...in plenty of time for the lock through up to the city.  BUT....they stopped lifting boats early so we were forced to tie up to the wall for the night.

We walked up the bike trail to downtown Ottawa and met Ken and Ann (Charis) for drinks on their boat.  Kenny, Jeanne, Ron and I had dinner at a Scottish restaurant.  Ottawa is filled with Irish and Scottish pubs.
We had our first storm in several weeks during the night, but it was clear by morning.
