7/7/14 Young’s Point Lock
Due to the rain, we decided to stay here another night.
There is a store here at the lock that is a must see. Lockside Trading Company has an assortment of
furniture and décor along with clothing items geared to living in “north
country” (very nice, but very pricey).
The rain finally ended but it is very humid. We walked over to Ken and Ann’s boat which is
at the Island View Resort just a short walk away from us. On the way, we spotted this clever man made
out of flower pots and his picnic table.
Lunch at the Old Mill
Restaurant was very good. It was one of
the best berry salads I’ve had. The
strawberries and blue berries were warmed and placed upon mixed lettuce, feta
and walnuts and then sprinkled with raspberry dressing.
After returning to the boat, there was a big rain shower,
but no storm. We returned to Ken and
Ann’s boat for a cocktail, and then ate dinner at the Old Mill at Island View
Marina where we shared an order of ribs.
There is a nesting loon near our boat. She is protecting her one egg from predators.
According to the boaters in front of us, the male and female take turns keeping
the egg warm. Tonight a falcon came very close, but decided upon another
dinner.
