This morning we left Young's Point at 0805. The entire day consisted of 4 locks and 33.3 miles. There was a beautiful stretch called Devil's Elbow on one chart and Hell's Gate on the other. It was a narrow winding passage through areas where granite protruded through the surface of the water. Cottages lined the shore. We are now in what is called "cottage country", where many Canadians either own or rent a cottage for vacation.
We saw many small cottages and some very large homes. This one, made entirely of glass, had life-sized replicas of jungle animals in the living room. Their deck, to the left, appeared to be some sort of space ship landing station.

As we crossed the last lake as we neared Bobcaygeon, it started to rain. Charis stopped at the marina at the bottom of the Bobcaygeon Lock. We went to the top of the lock and tied up for the night, just before the heavy rains started.
By 1800, the rain had stopped and we went to town to see the renowned shoe store. This had been called the largest shoe store ever, but I believe our Florida Peltz Store is bigger.
Shoe prices were unbelievable. They had a pair of leather flip flops for $250. Shoes that we can buy at Macy's or the Clark Shoe Store were marked up 20 to 30 %. It didn't take Ann or I long to decide that we were not going to make a purchase.
Dinner tonight was at a pizza/pasta restaurant (good by pricey). (Toronto prices)
