After the continental breakfast, there were several events (morning walk, volleyball tournament, bocce ball tournament, crafting time), but the highlight was the Bilge auction. New and used items were donated and the proceeds from the auction were given to GLCC. Some items were humorous and others were very nice. I bought a NEW ($80 retail) Vera Bradley bag for $47. Another lady and I kept the bidding going for a long time!
Before the dinner, the bridge officers got into dinghies and did what is called, Fleet Review. The dinghies went past each of the GLCC boats (65 of them) and saluted.
At 1830, we all reported to Water's Edge Restaurant for cocktails and the Commodore's dinner, awards and dancing. At our table was Mike, the retired pharmacist who had taken us to church on Saturday evening. He was also in the documentary! His brother-in-law was one of the men who died when the ship went down.
An award is given at each rendezvous for the boat traveling the farthest distance. Five boats submitted their entries this year, but Ron and I had come almost twice as far as any other boat (720 miles). A plaque with our names and boat name will be engraved and sent to us. WOW! What a surprise as first time attendees, to win the coveted award!
After saying our goodbyes to everyone, we walked back to the marina.
