6/21 and 6/22, 2024

 6/21/2024

Some Stats...

This is day 15 of our trip and we've traveled in 14 states. Weather has varied from super hot in New Orleans to 60s in New Mexico.  We started at seal level and are now at 5,000 feet.  Tonight we are in northeast NM at Clayton Lake State Park.  There are few pics today since it was laundry day.

This type of picnic table was found throughout Kansas.  Unlike Dorothy and Toto, they are designed to not blow away.

This extremely long train consisted only of tankers

And we made it to NM

6/22/2024:

We left the Clayton Lake State Park and headed for Philmont.  Ron was and Eagle Scout and always wanted to attend the adventure scouting camp at Philmont, but didn't have the $$$ to get there.  Tonight and tomorrow night we are in Cimarron Canyon State Park, Maverick Campground.

On the way to Philmont

Housing for the scouts before they leave on week-long hiking/camping.

Lined up and ready

This is a wagon from the Santa Fe trail.

A comfortable ride?  I think not!

We drove 10 miles from the campground to attend the only church in the area.

There were more visitors than parishioners.

Poppies growing wild.  It's our town!
