7/11/15 Cheboygan to Rogers City, MI

Today was a very short day (4 hours) on the water.  The Great Lakes Cruising Club Rendezvous starts tomorrow and ends Thursday.  We registered very late, but were still able to get a slip.  There are 76 boats registered for this event.  If you stay 4 days at the marina, you get the 5th free.  However, we are a 34 foot boat in a much larger slip and they charge by the size of the slip, not the size of the boat.  (for the 5 days, that comes to $1.45 per foot).

As we headed out for a 4:30 pm church service at St. Ignatius, a man in his car in the parking lot (Mike, a retired pharmacist), offered us a ride.  He took us on a tour of the town and then dropped us off at the church.  He didn't mention that he also attended the church and that he was a Eucharistic Minister.  We believe that he is our friend Dorothy's counterpart.  She was the angel sent to us in Portage, Indiana.

After church, we walked to town and had good pizza at The Lighthouse.

One of the nice things on the Rendezvous schedule is an organized walk every morning.  That is a nice change of pace from sitting all day long.  They also have a women's tea and style show, craft times, and a book exchange.  This is a very well-organized event.  First timers like us were given name tags with  yellow ribbons.  Many people came up and welcomed us because they saw our ribbons.
