6/12/14 Day 2 Ottawa

We are in a perfect location in Ottawa on the Rideau.  The Westin Hotel is across the street (rooms start at $339.00).  Rooms at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier a 1/2 block away also starts at  $339.00.  We are paying $9.80 per night for electricity. The restaurant across the canal has free WIFI that we are tapped into, so we do not have to leave the boat for internet service. For us, a relatively inexpensive week in the city.

Since it was another rainy day, we walked to the National Gallery and spent several hours there and had lunch.

On the way back, Ron returned the FIDO chip that did not work with our Verizon jetpack, so we are now relying on free WIFI.

After dinner on the boat, we headed for the market area and stopped for a glass of wine at an Irish restaurant and then went to a bakery and shared carrot cake.

The rainy weather is expected to continue one more day....then sunshine!
