June 1, 2014 Church

Sunday:  We attend different Catholic churches each week, and find that worshiping God takes on many different faces even though the liturgies are standard.  I always compare the music to that of our choir in Dunedin where Debbie and Bill, professional musicians lead us in our musical ministry.  This was an interesting choir.  Four women and three men, along with an organist were the choir for the service. The organ sounded like a calliope...a very unusual sound for traditional hymns.  One of the choir members played the drums and another played some sort of horn.

For our Our Lady of Lourdes family in Dunedin:  Please share with Father Gary.  The movie screens displayed the announcements before mass, the first and second reading and the gospel along with all parts of the mass.  The songs were displayed, too:  not only the lyrics, but also the musical notation.  Very helpful, especially with the recent changes in the mass.

The family in front of us had 5 children, four were African-American and one of those had caramel colored hair.  Cute kids!
